Our work
Care for the whole of life
Six areas of service, drawn from our Memorandum of Association and guided by the needs of our community.
Education
Education builds a person from within. We work to open doors to learning for children, youth and adults in rural Purulia, especially those who cannot afford it.
How we help
- Schools and libraries for the community
- Basic and adult literacy centres
- Free computer classes with theory and practical training
- Support for needy students, with residential and non-residential facilities
- Lectures, seminars, debates and educational excursions
Healthcare
When illness or emergency strikes, distance and money should not decide who gets help. Our health work focuses on timely, free support for families who need it most.
How we help
- Free ambulance service, with a 24×7 helpline
- Free dead-body carrier service
- Charitable dispensaries, medicine shops and first-aid centres
- Blood donation camps
- Awareness on thalassemia, cancer and HIV/AIDS
- Free treatment support for deaf, mute and differently-abled persons
Care for the Elderly & Needy
Every person deserves dignity, in old age, in sickness and in the hardest moments of life. We stand beside those who have no one else to turn to.
How we help
- Help for aged, sick and destitute people
- An old-age home for elders in need of care
- Food, clothing and shelter
- Help with marriage expenses for poor families
- Support with funeral and cremation for poor families
Livelihood & Awareness
Lasting change comes when people can stand on their own feet. We help rural communities organise, learn and earn together.
How we help
- Self-help group programmes for grassroots livelihood
- Social awareness camps for rural women
- Social awareness camps for rural men
Environment & Disaster Relief
Caring for people means caring for the land they live on. We plant for the future and reach out quickly when disaster strikes.
How we help
- Tree plantation drives
- Awareness on pollution and its prevention
- Relief during flood, drought and famine
- Relief during earthquakes and other natural calamities
Culture, Yoga & Spiritual Growth
In the spirit of Swami Vivekananda, we believe a strong society needs strong bodies, clear minds and open hearts.
How we help
- Yoga, meditation and spiritual culture
- Literary, cultural and scientific education
- Non-profit publications
- Fostering friendship, cooperation and research
These areas come from our Memorandum of Association. Some programmes are active today; others we are building step by step with community support. All income and property of the society is used solely for these objects, and no profit is ever distributed to members.
